why: Instead of harvest/autumn season influence in my next journal notebook geometric design, I had this idea of Christmas peppermints scattered throughout so that's the direction for #23. This posting is a personal series for a journaling notebook idea that I started in March 2025.  Piet Mondrian, famous Dutch painter, is well-known for his geometric designs that had black and white spaces and color blocks. He also did some abstract overlapping style compositions and landscapes. This time I wanted different sizes and shapes so there are some 3 x 3, 1 x 5, 1 x 1, etc. I also wanted the circle peppermint shapes to be bold so that's why they were done in marker.

why: This posting shares my owner/DT projects for the 10th HQCOLCB or Heart's Quest Celebrations of Love Challenge Blog for this year! I believer this is getting close to ending our 2nd year in blogland. HQCOLCB has 5 main monthly themes and we offer an optional event theme each month too. In October the options look forward to November by celebrating Thanksgiving Day or Appreciation projects. The main themes are coded as BEWAS or B for birthdays, E for engagements, W for weddings, A for Anniversaries and/or S for Sympathies. 

For #10 I've decided to a feminine birthday card, a sympathy card and an Appreciation/giving thanks for you card.

why: This year is disappearing and it's already #10 for the newish HQFSCAT or Heart's Quest for Shaped Cards and Tags!!! YES! This is dedicated to shaped cards and shaped tags with the only exception being a standard/regular rectangle shape that has 4 straight 90* corners. Altered variations on rectangles are accepted like rounded corners, scallop-topped, dog-ear topped, a z-fold, dimensional card, etc. My inspiration this month is on the time of year for us, autumn season! We're starting the month with some high 80-90*F temps but the nights are cooling down into the 50s so that's been nice. 

Autumn season projects are what I decided to create: a mushroom and harvest colors rounded corner shaped tag plus a circular pumpkin/stem shaped blessings card.

21. Pen + Gear = pumpkin/squash color cardstock for the base (I used a dessert plate for the circle portion and then a scrap rectangle cut cardstock at an angle to get the size and slant for a pumpkin stem)

22. Fancy Pants Designs' Memory Lane = cardstock for the segmented pumpkin (I sketched the layout trying to be a bit asymmetrical. I used the dark brown marker pen for outlining.)

why: Wow! We've made it to introduce a 2nd challenge time period for FQHCB or the new FarmQuest Home Challenges Blog! The theme will always be 'anything HOME goes' topics. It can be anything typically found inside or outside of a house...even views of the exterior of a house. Think of paintings, mirrors, candles/lanterns, shelving, tiered trays, coffee tables, lamps, quilts/throws, curtains, porch/deck furniture, mailbox, birdhouse/feeders, doghouse, treehouse, lawnmower, etc.

1. Neenah = pink cardstock cut as round circle minus a 3" straight edge for display

2. Art Skills = bright pink copy paper traced saucer/dessert plate for size and shape (the base was enlarged by 1/2" all around and then the straight edge section was cut)

3. Fancy Pants Designs' Unique ephemera pack = sentiment strip, lady, peacock feather, frame with silhouette and vintage camera on tripod
