2B. As You Like It; started Aug 21/mid-challenge; theme ? = What is your favorite medium and why? For this second card, I've used lots of colored pencils and they tend to be my favorite when I need to do lots of color-filling like all those vegetables in the wheelbarrow, the lettering above the wheelbarrow and lightly adding blue for sky and some green for grass to help the scene.

why: This blog post is my 18th for showcasing geometric designs that have been influenced by the paintings of late Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. Go to the bottom to see inspiration for this journaling page. This particular notebook was started in March 2025.

2. colored pencils = the 3 blue tones are all Marvy Uchida watercolor pencils; the lighter red is by Crazy Art and the darker red is Crayola

6. the smaller sections on the left are a nod to the 1929 painting

7. the larger/longer sections on the right are a nod to the 1922 painting

8. some time references: my paternal grandparents were born in 1905 and 1910; my maternal grandparents were born in 1913 & 1914; and my in-laws were born in 1917 & 1918. Then my dad was born in 1937 and my mom in 1939. My husband is 12-13 years older than me and was born in 1949 while I was born in 1962. I find it interesting that Mondrian's geometric/color block paintings were considered 'modern'. But visit the website/organization shared below where some of his masterpieces are featured to find out he did paintings in other styles. You will be pleasantly surprised.

why: My purpose for the post is to share my newest installment, notebook page, in my art journal. About 20 weeks ago I started this notebook for geometric designs inspired by famous painter Piet Mondrian. Mondrian did paint nature and daily stuff however it's the geometric blocked paintings that I want for my spring-boarding/ brainstorming.
