My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page #6 on 21 April 2025

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity!

why: Six weeks ago or so I started this personal series for me to stretch my creative thoughts in another direction and decided I would try some journal pages inspired by world-renowned artist Piet Mondrian. He used lines, boxes and mostly bold primary tones (from what I remember) in his paintings.

For some of mine, My Mondrian Mondays Journaling Page #6, I tried to quarter off block work, go reverse symmetrical, and on a few I've counted lines going in three's or sixes for most of the blocks. White areas have varied...but then so did his. On some of his large paintings, he used lots more white areas than I have. But on this #6 installment, I did strive for something different...or two major things...take a look =

when: #6 will be published on Monday April 21, 2025

Three Cs of Coffee and Cookies and Christmas card non-DT project on 7 April 2025

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity!

the why: Before my brain gets back to working on my next due DT commitment(s), I'm going to squeeze in this Coffee and Christmas cookies card referred in the post title as Three Cs. I do NOT drink coffee. Can't stand the taste of it! Can only tolerate a teaspoon or so of coffee-flavored ice cream...and I love ice cream! Coffee, cocoa, lattes and tea have been very popular beverages for paper-crafting. So I'm going to 'give' in!

the when: Tuesday April 8, 2025

the what: Three Cs= Coffee & Cookies & Christmas card

the how-to notes:

1. coffee cup image was made by taking a clip-art image printed to a 4" x 6" size...closer to 4" high x 5" wide...and pencil traced/imprinted the basic outline; I added the highlight lines myself then colored/inked for a Christmas brew; adding faux little cinnamon red hot candies to float on the coffee's surface!

2. cookies print paper = Fancy Pants Designs

3. base is brown cardstock that started as 6" square and trimmed to 5.5" square = Art Skills

4. the mixed Christmas images paper = Bo Bunny's Christmas Treasures paper pad

5. the cookies print paper = Cookies for Kringle by Fancy Pants Designs

6. two sentiment stickers = Sweet Rush sticker book by Vicki Boutin/American Crafts

7. copper chevron decorative tape = DIY Crafts (three design set)/American Crafts

8. enamel dots = Freckled Fawn

9. a mix of markers and colored pencils for the coffee cup = stash

---------------------------------------------

the where: this is a non-design team commitment project

My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page #4 on 7 April 2025

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity!

post's purpose...the why: A month ago (already!!!!) I thought a doable project for me to do weekly (or maybe almost ) would be a journaling notebook with single page Piet Mondrian-inspired geometric layouts. When creating the grid, I'm trying to do my best to come up with different sizes of boxes and also different arrangements. #3 was almost a perfect symmetrical layout. This one, #4, has 50%/right side. This has been fun to do!

the when: Monday April 7, 2025

the what: #4

~~ my most unusual Christmas memories are from our family mission trip to Haiti when I was 15 1/2 years old!!! Growing up in east central Illinois/west central Indiana area, the weather difference alone was a shock. The cultural and lifestyle differences back in 1977 were very shocking! Swimming in the Caribbean on Christmas Eve with 80* F temps! Experiencing sea urchins for the first time! Sitting on crudely made wood benches for 2 hour church services. Hearing voodoo drums on the night of Christmas eve to Christmas Day morning was very eerie.
