My Critter Crazy Challenges #108 design team LION card on 1 March 2026

why: This posting showcases my newest design team/owner inspiration project for Critter Crazy Challenges, a crafting blog, that I assumed owner and administrator status about 13-14 months ago. This January completed my first year and we're just roaring along into my second! 

One just never knows how and where and what I see sparks my creative muse! For about a year I've not touched a set of children's animal masks except to give a tiger one to the little girl we were babysitting on weekday afternoons. I thought I would the use the masks for Critter Crazy before this, but apparently other animal images/products have also sparked my imagination. My March critter is a lion. 

The theme is always 'anything goes with a featured critter' or AGFC.

what: Project #1:

how-to & vendor notes for #1:

1. yellow cardstock (CS) is not quite a full sheet; about 6.5" deep x 8" wide = Astrobrights/Neenah

2. lion mask = from a mixed animal children's mask set = sold by Dollar General Stores (I added the black marker accents on the ears plus the paper and ink triangles for eyes + whisker ink lines + stars.)

3. brown scrap CS = tucked into the eye openings = Colorbok

4. gold glitter stars = part of a mixed gold star design set of stickers = Recollections/Michaels Arts and Crafts

5. tall gold metallic 'HI' puffy lettering stickers = Thickers by American Crafts

6. tiny gold puffy lettering stickers from Flags and Frills package = American Crafts

7. black fine tip marker pen = Sharpie (outlined the mask perimeter and the eyes; used to stencil the triangles; also draw the black lines on the ears)

8. black extra fine tip marker pen = Sharpie (for the whiskers)

9. black stamp pad = Hero Arts (to ink the yellow CS perimeter)

1. top-folded neon orange cardstock base (1/2 of a full sheet of cardstock cut vertically and then folded in half = 4.25" x 5.5" dimensions) = Astrobrights/Neenah (printer's scanner light has faded to peach tone)

2. laser cut primed wood arch window with roses (for a flower box look) = Little Birdie Crafts by Nicole Craft Brands

3. background wood with images/text print cardstock = recycled packaging trimmed

4. Walnut/brown mini stamp pad = Lawn Fawn (for outer cardstock inking)

My Heart's Quest for Shaped Cards and Tags #3 (or #15) DT projects on 2 March 2026

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity!

why: This is my personal post for 1 new shaped creation for Heart's Quest For Shaped Cards and Tags #3 for 2026 (or #15 since we started). HQFSCAT is anything goes on shaped cards and/or shaped tags with the only shape not allowed being a standard rectangle. Variations on rectangles are accepted such as rounded corners, a wider diagonal cut that changes the degrees to something less than 90*; scallop-topped; dog-ear topped; border punch used across the bottom 2 corners; etc. 

I only had time to create 1 project this time for HQFSCAT! Thankfully a couple of other team members did 2 projects this time plus we had Guest DTs to help us have lots of inspirational samples. My personal life and husband's have been crazy. I had a head cold last week for 5-6 days but then discovered some weird swelling in my lower right leg on Saturday afternoon. So hubby took me to a small hospital ER only 25 miles from us. Unfortunately, a radiology tech wasn't on call but would be on Sunday, so I had to go back to find out that I have a Baker's cyst on the back of my knee. Luckily it's not a clot but an aggravation until my body absorbs the leaking lubricating fluid from my knee into other parts of my leg/body. Another lucky thing was that the same ER doc was still working Sun morning so that was reassuring that he was familiar with my case. But that took away from my weekend time to craft and be on the computer. Hubby failed his treadmill stress test last Tuesday and has to undergo a heart catherization/angiogram procedure in the morn/Wed/March 4. He is to expect stenting but we don't know what to expect until the cardiology interventionist gets going. He's first on the schedule. This is a different hospital but is the largest in the region and part of the same hospital system. This interventionist took care of Joe 6.5 years ago so he's familiar with Joe's extensive cardiac history. He's a walking miracle!! Keep us in your thoughts and prayers please. Lots of risks for Joe but his regular cardiologist says he needs to do it to get blood flow back into a section of his heart.

My Heart's Quest Celebrations of Love #3 for March 2026 design team projects

why: The purpose of this posting is to feature two new design team inspiration projects for Heart's Quest Celebrations of Love Challenges blog or HQCOLCB. There are 5 main themes every month coded as "BEWAS" and the March optional event themes will be St. Patrick's Day and Easter. Easter comes early in April, April 5, which would be just 2 days after our April challenge is planned. [BEWAS = birthday, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and/or sympathies]

I decided to do an A is for Anniversary card, option occasion St. Patrick's Day lucky charm card and option occasion Easter bookmark for my Bible.
