My featured FQCB #73 farmhouse in or out theme DT projects for 28 June 2025

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity!

why: this posting features my latest rural creative spin for FQCB or FarmQuest Challenge Blog #73. The theme this time is "farmhouse in or out" so it could be outside the farmhouse on the porch or in the yard or at the mailbox, etc. Inside the farmhouse, it could be looking out the kitchen window or the upstairs bedroom window; a stack of folded laundry on the stairs waiting to be carried up; etc. I decided to do an outside the farmhouse with elements for wash day: washboard/scrub board, kettle, clothesline and pins, bucket, soap, clothes hanging from the line. For the other project, I chose another embroidery pattern from the same booklet with this time being a water pump outside.

when: FQCB #73 starts June 28, 2025 and ends on July 27, 2025

what: Project #1 = Wash Day Outdoors in the Summer

how-to notes for #1 =

2. light ivory A2 size card base (with envelope) = pack = Crafter's Square

3. yellow and gray plaid paper = Recollections

4. light blue cardstock strip = Neenah

5. turquoise scrap strip = Recollections

6. soft yellow cardstock panel cut to same size as an index card = Neenah

and

what: Project #2 = the old water pump outside (some of the fancier farmhouses and even some city houses way back when, had water pumps in their kitchens; generally they would be smaller than those outside near the house and/or the barns. When my parents bought our childhood home (I was 5 1/2 years old) there were 3 water pumps/wells on the property. One near the back door, another one near a small garden patch and chicken house located on the other side of the alley and the last one was a bit further away near 3 hog houses that the previous owners left behind.

how-to notes for #2 =

21. light ivory card A2 size (with matching envelope) = pack = Crafter's Square

22. turquoise cardstock panel = Recollections

23. gray and yellow plaid paper = Recollections

24. water pump embroidery pattern = "Kount on Kappie's Book 59 A Little Country",1985, designed by Janice Baldwin and art by Veronica Valliere

25. black stamp pad = Hero Arts

26. black retractable marker pen = Zebra Clickart

27. blue, gray, yellow, 2 shades of green and 2 shades of browns colored pencils = stash (different vendors: Marvy Uchida, Crayola, Crazy Art) [text added to the pattern as well as the coloring]

  3. Oh my, what a great idea to use the embroidery pattern with pencils! Such a fun rural scene with the laundry hanging. I remember hanging all the laundry as a child. Not sure I would hang laundry anymore with all the birds around here! hahaha Great card; thanks for sharing with us at Path of Positivity. Katrina
