why: This post purpose is to showcase my owner/design team "Anything Goes Country Christmas" theme project for FarmQuest Country Christmas Challenges Blog #28. 

when: #28 starts January 7, 2026 and is offset until February 5, 2026. 

what: Project #1: trio of outdoor elements on horizontal slimline Christmas card = exterior view of house; decorated tree with snow; snowman w/ snow

how-to & vendor notes for #1:

1. white CS cut to slimline 7.25" wide x 3.25" deep = Georgia Pacific; and some scraps were punched for look like marshmallows or snow

2. green paper strip and navy paper strip = from a 100 sheet paper pad with color assortment = Hello Hobby/Walmart

3. blue puffy diamond/quartz cut shape stickers = from a multi-shape puffy sticker pack = Studio 112 by Spotted Canary

4. three gift tag 'covers' with layered focal images = from a multi- design pack = bought at Dollar General

5. red CS scrap = Crafter's Square

6. extra fine tip black marker = Sharpie

7. layered gift tags have depth because of foam adhesive squares

why: Instead of harvest/autumn season influence in my next journal notebook geometric design, I had this idea of Christmas peppermints scattered throughout so that's the direction for #23. This posting is a personal series for a journaling notebook idea that I started in March 2025.  Piet Mondrian, famous Dutch painter, is well-known for his geometric designs that had black and white spaces and color blocks. He also did some abstract overlapping style compositions and landscapes. This time I wanted different sizes and shapes so there are some 3 x 3, 1 x 5, 1 x 1, etc. I also wanted the circle peppermint shapes to be bold so that's why they were done in marker.

how-to & vendor notes for #1:

1. Dollar General Corporation = journaling notebook with notched graph sheets and elastic band closure

2. Zebra Clickart = gray retractable marker pen

3. Arteza = red alcohol dual-tip marker

4. Art Skills = green permanent dual-tip marker

5. stash = black ink pen, mechanical pencil and variety of colored pencils (Marvy Uchida watercolor, Crayola, Crazy Art in black, several greens and reds)

6. Crayola = lime green marker

7. Crafter's Square = foam and glitter peppermint sticker to serve as a size and shape template plus inspiration

A few days ago on January 28, FQHSKCB and FQGGCB did a sort of theme swap to better align themes to blog titles and hopefully that will help readers/bloggers/artisans to remember each blog and what each one is focused on. FarmQuest HomeStyle Kitchen will now be 'anything kitchen or dining goes' or coded as AKDG.

~~ fun kitchen/dining experience in January 2025 =

with so much cold weather, I've been using the oven more as well as using the large slow cooker at least 1x per week. 

--our fast go-to 1 sheet pan quick meal has frozen fish sticks (or fillets) and frozen tater tots sharing the space

22 minutes at 425* F

and

*my go-to quick tartar sauce substitute is mayonnaise + pickle relish mixed together; work on your ratios for the # of people that are being fed. This can be mixed together while the food is baking. 

*sometimes we add a side salad or cole slaw to get some crunch and veggie nutrition
